Are your sprockets turning black, my dear?
Release Time:2018-05-10

Following a Chinese saying that goes: “Clear rivers and green mountains are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver”, a company contributing to society is responsible for protecting the environment. Damon Industry is learning to promote air pollution reduction and emission reduction through avoiding galvanization and saponification and encouraging polishing and spray-painting. Today’s article is about the process of blackening the sprockets.

Blackening is used for rustproofing, in the case of rollers that are not suitable for galvanizing, like sprocket rollers made of stainless steel or accumulating conveyor rollers. Blackening is a process used by suppliers for simple finishing. The main components of black liquor used for paint and rust removal are sodium hydroxide and sodium nitrite. Emissions of sodium nitrite, a carcinogenic substance, and sodium hydroxide, a strong alkali, cause air pollution. In the wake of enhancing environmental awareness, most of the suppliers externalized the process, but no improvements have been made. Being a benchmark enterprise, Damon Industry has the responsibility and obligation to reduce pollution caused by roller production and to come up with a solution strategy. In this respect, Damon Industry did an evaluation on the basis of product quality and environmental protection.

Damon Industry did a salt fog test on different types of surfaces.

And it discovered that:

1.    Blackened surfaces were up to standard but not ideal, there are still risks when used on top of welded stainless steel sprockets.

2.    Galvanization

Under same conditions, galvanized surfaces were superior to the blackened ones, but the process of galvanization causes air pollution. In the same time, stainless steel sprockets are not suitable for galvanizing.

3.    New solution: Environmentally friendly antirust oil

In order to make clients happy, Damon Industry found a solution. Tests have shown that the antirust oil is both eco-friendly and suitable for welding. It is sprayed on top of the sprockets and it creates an oil-film coating.

Anti-rust resistance is high, the products fully meet functional requirements and high-quality results are proven by the fact that they keep their original color.

Let’s try this together, let’s work together for reducing air pollution by keeping the quality standards high.  Let's do it!

We hope that in a short period of time, more and more of our clients will ask for this simple, yet effective manufacturing process, so as to be able to support “the Green Movement” and to bring the saying “clear rivers and green mountains are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver” to life.
